Vaccination

At HealthCare Now we offer vaccines for Adults and Children, as well as vaccines which may be needed for travel.

What is a vaccination anyway?

The human body is an amazing system with built in defense mechanisms. In other words the body doesn’t make the same mistake twice, and is able to learn each time an infection occurs. For example, when a child catches chicken pox, he or she will become ill, gets a severe fever and rash and then eventually gets better. Next time they are exposed to another sick child with chicken pox, they will never again get the disease. This is because the body has made immunity to that disease. Vaccination gives the body the instructions to fight off disease without needing to catch the disease first.

Why should I vaccinate my child?

While unheard of today about 100 years ago there were many classic “Childhood illnesses”, many of which were deadly. The parents at the time could only hope their child would not contract one of these diseases. Originally back in the late 1700s Edward Jenner developed the first vaccine for small pox saving countless lives. Today through many years of research vaccination has become very safe and extremely effective.
Vaccination is a gift and a way to protect your child from illness.
